Hayden Mathews
Hayden Mathews of Vero Beach, FL, and Stamford, CT, died on December 27, 2012, in Chevy Chase, MD.
Born on October 30, 1930, in Rutherford, NJ, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvine R.O. Mathews (Beula Hayden). He was a graduate of the Choate School (’49) and Rutgers University (’53). Mr. Mathews is remembered by his family as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and as an accomplished and passionate outdoorsman. He was a member of the Moorings Club of Vero Beach, the Field Club of Greenwich, the Williams Club of New York and the Bald Peak Colony Club of Melvin Village, NH. Loved by all who knew him, Hayden was a constant, kind and loyal family member and friend.
He is survived by Mrs. Mathews (Ross—Elizabeth S. Baker), his beloved wife of 49 years. Hayden was the devoted father of Alexander Mathews of Bethesda, MD, Adam Mathews of Austin, TX, and Mrs. Giovanni Prezioso (Elizabeth H. Mathews) of Bethesda; and grandfather of Ashley and Adam Mathews and Emily, Julia and Alexander Prezioso. He was predeceased by his brother George Duncan Mathews.
