Margaret Rhett von Werssowetz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard O. von Werssowetz (Margaret R. McLeod) of Charleston, SC, was married on May 14, 2016, to Edward Abry Waters, son of Ms. Carol Davis Waters (Carol A. Davis) of Dallas, and Brian G. Waters of Michigan City, IN. The ceremony took place at St. Philip’s Church in Charleston. A reception followed at Carolina Yacht Club, also in Charleston.
The bride is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. McLeod (Helen W. Taylor) of Walterboro and Columbia, SC, and of the late Dr. and Mrs. Odon F. von Werssowetz (Mary J. Burkart) of Lookout Mountain, TN.
The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard B. Davis (Barbara A. Benish) of West Lafayette, IN, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Munsey W. Waters (Phyllis T. Little) of Michigan City. He is the stepson of Michael J. Romo.
A toast was given at the reception with the bride’s family’s silver loving cup, which had been presented to her great-great-great grandparents by their children on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. A large photograph of one of those children, the bride’s great-great-grandfather Robert Goodwyn Rhett, mayor of Charleston from 1903 to 1911, hangs on the wall of the ballroom where the reception was held.
Mrs. Waters attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA, and is a graduate of the University of the South. Mr. Waters attended The Episcopal School in Dallas, and also graduated from the University of the South.
The couple took a wedding trip to Paris and London, and currently reside in Washington, DC.
