Margaret Saltonstall Howe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barclay G. Howe (Judith D. Du Lyn) of Simsbury, CT, was married on January 23, 2016, to Sergio Oscar Alejandro Vera-Gutiérrez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sergio Vera-Muñoz (Minerva Gutiérrez-Peña) of Viña del Mar, Chile. The ceremony and reception took place at the Sulgrave Club in Washington, DC.

The bride, known as Sally, is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis W. Du Lyn (Margaret J. Finney) of West Hartford, CT, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel S. Howe (Margaret Barclay) of Lyme, CT. She is a direct descendant of Sir Richard Saltonstall, an original founder of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and of Watertown, MA.

The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Gutiérrez (Minerva Peña) of Viña del Mar, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sergio Vera (Eliana Muñoz), also of Viña del Mar.

Although the wedding coincided with the untimely East Coast blizzard of 2016, an international contingent of friends and family from Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, London, Taiwan and Spain arrived safe and sound to celebrate with the couple. The ring bearers even braved the inclement weather, traveling via sleds towed by the bride’s siblings through the snowy streets of Washington.

Mrs. Vera-Gutiérrez attended St. Paul’s School and graduated from Northwestern University. She received an MBA from IESE Business School at the University of Navarra. Mr. Vera-Gutiérrez attended The Mackay School and graduated from Adolfo Ibañez University. He also received an MBA from IESE Business School, where the couple met.

The couple is planning a wedding trip in late 2016 and reside in Seattle.
