Gillian Elizabeth Antell, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. (Dr.) Darrick E. Antell (Elizabeth A. Sobottka) of Greenwich, CT, was married on September 26, 2015, to Paul James Balanoff, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Balanoff (Rebecca Rosen) of Oak Park, IL. The ceremony and reception took place outdoors at the Grove at Silverado Resort in Napa, CA.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Stanley Sobottka (Sally Sproles) of Davis, CA, and the late Dr. Sobottka of Charlottesville, VA. She is also the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. E. James Antell (Wanda Kociecki) of Cleveland, OH. The bride’s great-grandfather, Joseph Kociecki, was a founder of The Bank of Cleveland.

The groom is the grandson of Frank Livingston Rosen of Chicago, and the late Mrs. Rosen (Lois Anne Schafer), and of Mrs. James Balanoff (Elizabeth Brummall), also of Chicago, and the late Mr. Balanoff. 

The couple’s French bulldog, Layla, was the “flower pup” at the ceremony, followed by a lively reception. A memorable moment occurred when the newlyweds, then guests, jumped a rope fashioned out of dinner napkins to the fabulous music of the night’s entertainment, the 415s, while family and friends cheered them on.

Mrs. Balanoff attended Greenwich Country Day School and The Lawrenceville School, and graduated from the University of Southern California. Mr. Balanoff is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder.

The couple took an extended wedding trip to Argentina through Christmas 2015, and reside in Chicago.
